Prem (42) is a transgender spiritual medium and part of the LGBTQ+ medium community in Lampang, Northern Thailand, along with other third gender shamans such as Boon Chauy (48) and Nutta (36). Talking to the dead and spirits, the mediums save people from their distress. They are all examples of a new trend of gender nonconforming people becoming psychics in modern Thailand, in which spiritualism is revived because of the distrust of politics and royalty.
One day, Prem moves to Bangkok, having been hired as a spiritual consultant for a well-known TV show. She gains fortune and fame. But Prem still suffers from isolation as being a sexual minority in still existing, deep-rooted discrimination in seemingly LGBTQ+ friendly Thailand.
Locals, celebrities and even politicians visit the mediums for spiritual sittings everyday. TRANSITER brings the unrevealed sessions on screen. It reflects the social issues and hidden trauma of Thailand on the mirror of their intimate conversations.
