Jūratė Samulionytė completed her Master's degree in Film and TV Directing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius in 2007. Her short feature film Noroutine (15 min.) was awarded Best Short Film of the Year 2008 at the Silver Crane film awards in Lithuania. In 2010, Jūratė Samulionytė directed the documentary Shanghai Banzai (26 min.) about the Šnipiškės district, and a year later presented the short film Temporary (28 min.), which explores the challenges faced by emigrant children in Lithuanian society. In 2017, together with her sister, photographer Vilma Samulionytė, she released the feature documentary What We Leave Behind / Liebe Oma, Guten Tag! (84 min.), which was co-produced by German production company. In 2022, she actively participated in the volunteer documentary project Letter to Ukraine (initiated by director V. Puidokas), which documented Lithuanian initiatives and aid efforts for Ukrainians in the face of war.
