Ahmed Awadalla
Germany
Ahmed Awadalla (they/them), is a German-Egyptian writer, filmmaker, and transdisciplinary storyteller. Their work explores how queerness, marginality, and displacement produce alternative ways of knowing, forge unexpected kinships, and challenge dominant narratives. Through a practice that blends fiction, nonfiction, and archival research, they engage with storytelling as a means of reimagining histories and futures. Their award-winning debut film, Queer Exile—an essay documentary—has been showcased at esteemed film festivals worldwide. Awadalla’s writing has appeared in various media, anthologies, and academic publications, contributing to conversations at the intersections of public health, radical sexual politics, and cultural memory. They hold an MSc in Health History from the University of Strathclyde and continue to experiment with narrative and visual forms to expand how stories are told and whose knowledge is centered.
