Imam Hasanov founded the independent production company, Free Art, in Baku, Azerbaijan. Free Art supports author-driven, art house films, as well as creative documentaries with local impact and global relevance. Imam is also the co-founder and director of DokuBaku IDFF, the first international and the only independent documentary film festival in Azerbaijan, as well as the founder and director of "CıxıŞ – Cinema&Theater" independent cinema-theater, and the online art platform Doklad iSchool for emerging Azerbaijani filmmakers.
