I am a Visual Artist and Filmmaker based in Malta since 2011. After studying Fine Arts (M.A), Art History and Philosophy (B.A) in Florence, Augsburg, Berlin, Barcelona and Leipzig, I trained and worked as Tour Guide and in Art Mediation. I attended the Performance Department of TISCH University (NYC) as Visiting Scholar. These various studies set me off working with multi-layered documentaries and videos, often mixing facts and fiction. This approach allows me to examine the possibilities of knowledge transfer, and question “reality”, collective memory and the “official” writing of history. I try to translate contemporary social issues into poetical “myths”, set in imaginary lands; and to create filmic narrations I call “extended” history. For the past years, I have worked independently for commissioned documentaries as well as personal projects through funding and grants. My work takes on the form of essayfilms, spoken-word-performances and documentaries. That is: I tell stories.
