ESoDoc at DOK Leipzig 2026

leonardi now you see itESoDoc - European Social Documentary is at DOK Leipzig (October 26 – November 1) on Tuesday, October 27, with a project at DOK Preview International, a screening in the festival programme and two sessions dedicated to training initiatives.

DOK Preview International – Now You See It
This year's ESoDoc project is Now You See It, the debut feature by Alessandro Leonardi (ESoDoc 2024), produced by Alevtina Nepomnyashchikh, Guendalina Folador and Rasa Miskinyte (UK, Italy, Lithuania). A young physicist and his cat are about to change our understanding of reality with a groundbreaking quantum experiment. After years of failing instruments, the mirage of a Nobel Prize and a fractured mind, he seeks answers to the universe and human stupidity. What if reality is not what it seems?

The film will be presented at DOK Preview International from 15:30 to 17:30 at the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum. The event spotlights one project from each partner training initiative, seeking gap financing, distribution partners and festival premieres. It is invitation only; accredited guests can follow the livestream.

Screening – Hope Is a Word
Hope Is a Word by Maria Galliani-Dvirik, the ESoDoc project presented at DOK Preview International last year, screens at 17:00 in "Positions", the festival's new section dedicated to dialogue and debate.

Training initiatives sessions
Thomas Righetti, Head of Project, will represent ESoDoc at two sessions at VHS (Volkshochschule Leipzig):

  • Industry Connections: Training Initiatives Roundtables, 13:30 – 15:00: roundtables where participants can learn more about each programme.

Anyone interested in ESoDoc is welcome to join us at the roundtables.
