ESoDoc - European Social Documentary and Inconvenient Films present RE/FRAMED, an industry gathering on the future of documentary in the age of new technologies, taking place in Vilnius on October 19 and 20.
Over two Industry Days, artists, creators and experts explore how new media are reshaping documentary storytelling, how immersive work reaches audiences and creates impact, and what generative AI means for the field, through talks, hands-on sessions and open discussion.
Monday, October 19 – Radvilos Palace Art Museum. An exclusive industry visit to the NK Interactive exhibition opens the day, followed by a conversation with the creators of Lesbian Simulator and Eyes of Shame. Keynotes by Mark Atkin (Crossover Labs) and artist Ignas Pavliukevičius look at archives, AI and new formats. In the evening, About a Hero screens at Cinema Skalvija, followed by a conversation with director Piotr Winiewicz.
Tuesday, October 20 – Planeta. Marek Tuszynski of Tactical Tech leads a keynote and hands-on workshop on how AI works and how to engage with it critically. Katerina Cizek of the MIT Open Documentary Lab joins online for a keynote on truth, creativity and consequence, followed by roundtables and a closing plenary.
On Sunday, October 18, ESoDoc alumni will serve as jury for the first national student short film competition at the Inconvenient Films award ceremony.
