“Scorched Earth” is a cinematic portrait of Sardinia, a land confronting with climate change’s most powerful weapon, fire.
Famous for its beaches yet home to the highest concentration of centuries-old trees in the Mediterranean, the island faces thousands of wildfires each year. “Scorched Earth” it's a choral documentary following multiple stories, blending observation, science and poetry.
We follow Lino, a firefighter flying everyday with the elicopter to fight the flames with his squad. We meet Bernabè and his team study millennia-old trees, seeking ways to protect them. We accompany Giovanni, who everyday tends the burned chunk of a thousand-year-old olive tree. Through his ritual of care, watering, nourishing, the tree begins to sprout again, a quiet testament to survival and hope.
All these stories are linked by the narrating voice of the forest itself, inviting the audience to embrace nature’s perspective.
“Scorched Earth” is a hymn to nature’s resilience and a call to protect it.
