This film is not about disability; it celebrates the power to communicate, create, and express ourselves in unique ways. Sign languages are essential in the Deaf world, shaping identity and creativity. Two main protagonists guide us: Arnas (28, Lithuania) is the film’s DOP and a child of Deaf parents. A nonconformist, he captures the Deaf community through photography and poetry. He shares, “I identify more as Deaf; hearing people tell me to go to the Deaf world, while Deaf people tell me to go to the hearing
world.” Hamdi (20, Egypt–Italy), a Deaf refugee, faces discrimination from his family and the Deaf community for wanting to work. As he navigates immigration challenges in Italy, he begins working at the Senza Nome bar, a space where Deaf staff and customers come together. It is an ideal location for the film: visitors have fun, mourn, share intimate stories, fall in love, and fight. In this bar, we don’t need to search for extraordinary stories — they come to us on their own.
