In the name of the mother, the daughter and the holy spirit

The documentary follows three women - Sanda (24), her mother Anghelina (54), and grandmother Iulia (83) - to explore how societal norms shape their identities and choices across generations.

Sanda, a violinist, defies her grandmother’s wish for her to pursue medicine, struggling to balance independence with family expectations. Anghelina, a teacher forced into the profession by her father, navigates between duty and personal fulfillment. Iulia, raised under Soviet rule and religious repression, fears the changes she sees in her granddaughter.

The film explores how love, freedom, and beauty are perceived differently by three generations of women. Though living separately, they adapt their behavior to fit societal expectations when together. Their stories reflect a universal struggle of women in post-Soviet societies - balancing tradition, autonomy, and the pressures imposed by others, often by other women.
