3 Daughters

3 Daughters explores the fragile web of expectations, sacrifices, and silent struggles connecting three women: Sanda (24), her mother Anghelina (54), and her grandmother Iulia (83). Each has lived under the weight of unwritten rules defining what it means to be a “proper” woman in a patriarchal society from Eastern Europe.
The story unfolds through the words of Iulia, the family matriarch. With warmth and certainty, she recounts her family’s life as if it were a tale of harmony, faith, and resilience. Yet, as her narration flows over the images of Anghelina and Sanda’s lives, a different reality emerges, one marked by frustration, compromises, and unspoken pain. What begins like a beautiful family story slowly transforms into a portrait of dissonance, where love coexists with silence, and endurance hides invisible wounds.
