Bashar Murad is a Palestinian pop star who refuses to remain invisible. Living under occupation, he attempts the impossible: bringing his country to Eurovision.
His dream carries his mother's legacy—an activist who once tried the same. Growing up under military rule, Bashar developed a flamboyant, political voice challenging both Israeli occupation and Palestinian hetero-normativity.
In 2024, he's invited to Iceland's national selection—a breakthrough exposing him to extreme scrutiny from all sides: right-wing media, Palestinian critics rejecting his queer visibility during genocide, and Israeli media seeing him as a threat to their pinkwashing.
Eliminated in the final televote, we now follow his ongoing attempts to secure a place at Eurovision 2027.
The film, blending observational documentary with flamboyant musical sequences, asks: Can a pop song cross a checkpoint? Can a stage become a country? And when the world refuses to see you, how loud must you sing?
