Call open for ESoDoc's lab at When East Meets West: "The Impact Pyramid"

We are really glad to announce our renewed partnership with When East Meets West! ESoDoc will be organising one of the Inspirational Lab which will be taking place on site, in Trieste (Italy), during WEMW on Jan 24-26, 2022.


How to develop a coherent workflow towards a powerful Impact Strategy

ESoDoc's lab at WEMW will focus on the design of impact campaign strategies. Danielle Turkov and Amy Shepherd from Think-Film Impact Production (TFIP) will lead a guided co-creation workshop, in which selected fiction and documentary projects will develop impact loglines, goals and key action steps, taking participants on a coherent and cohesive journey from knowledge acquisition to impact activation.
The main goal is to enhance participants’ understanding of the value of impact and what it can achieve for their productions and society, introduce them to a range of tools they can use to design and deliver policy impact, give participants specific project advice and guidance.

Amy Shepherd leads TFIP's global strategy and every aspect of impact campaigns. She brings a wide range of legal and policy experience to TFIP, having worked in the UK, The Philippines and at the EU on justice issues spanning prisoner rights, modern slavery, free speech, freedom of religion or belief and digital rights and data privacy. - Read more about Amy


Submission is open to producers from Europe and Canada. 

All applications must include: 

  • complete online form
  • participant/company profile
  • accompanying letter (including participant's professional background, reasons and motivation to join the lab, project's short synopsis, project's target audience (+ impact goals, if any)
  • Project's 2-pager (providing a more detailed description of the project)

There is no submission fee and the deadline is December 15, 2021, 23.59 CET.
The selection will be announced in late December.

it is possible to apply to max. 2 different labs, but it will be possible to attend only one Inspirational Lab;
in case you already applied to other WEMW activities you can still apply to the Inspirational Labs. 


In case of selection in one of the labs, the participation fee is € 200 EUR, including accreditation, tuition fee, lunches and access to the on-site and online WEMW programme.


All applicants will have the opportunity to virtually meet with the WEMW team on November 29 from 10.00am to 11.00am to get more info about the Inspirational Labs and the submission process. We remind that WEMW 2022 will grant physical access to the market venue only to the participants selected to one of the Inspirational Labs or to any other section in the programme. All other film professionals will be offered the possibility to enjoy the rich programme of WEMW and access the new WEMW Digital Universe by requesting an online accreditation from early December.
