Mette Reitzel

Mette is a Danish filmmaker based in London.
After graduating in Photography from London College of Communication, she honed her storytelling skills as a freelance assistant, writer and visual researcher for award-winning directors of commercials and feature films.
Her debut documentary, Hip Hop Hijabis, was initiated as an independent project but eventually premiered on Al Jazeera’s documentary strand Witness on International Women's Day. It follows two Muslim converts on a quest to spiritually reconcile Islam, music and female empowerment despite criticism from religious traditionalists.
The topic of her current project, the artful financial activism of the Robin Hood Co-op, may on the surface seems very different, but they are both stories about small groups of individuals challenging cultural and systemic attitudes through creative means and deal with some of the most pressing issues of our time through humour and personal narrative.

Project: Robin Hood 2.0
A real-life caper following a Finnish economics professor and his ragtag bunch of artists, hackers and games designers on a mission to democratise the financial system by fusing the ethos of Occupy with the tools of Wall Street and the spirit of Duchamp.
